Reynolds Coaches of Caister is the Oldest Established coach operator in Norfolk.

Although we can officially go back to 1910 the business was established just after the turn of the Century by Newman Charles Reynolds.  It was based in the High Street, in the centre of Caister-on-Sea, the business telephone number was Caister-on-sea 5.  Another depot was added in Northgate Street, Great Yarmouth.

The business was started with horse-drawn carriages, followed shortly by motorised 14 seater Charabancs, which had the ability to have lorry bodies fitted in the winter months for haulage work.  The business carried out a variety of operations including passenger transport, haulage, taxi’s and building development, indeed Reynolds Avenue in Caister  was named after Newman.

The business progressed and land was purchased and rented out for farming and housing development, but the main concentration was in transport, and continued to thrive until the commencement of the Second World War.

Newman had two sons Steven & Leonard and two daughter’s Mildred & Kathleen.  Kathleen married and took no further interest in the business, Mildred took over the land interests, Steven operated the taxi business, and after seeing active service in the RAF Leonard and his wife Grace took over the haulage and passenger transport section.  After the end of the Second World War the business re-located to its present site at Ormesby Road, Caister.

Newman Charles Reynolds died in 1944.

The business continued to grow in both coach & haulage operation.  The haulage operation was finished in the mid 1970’s to concentrate on Coaches.

In 1977 after engineering training with Mann Egerton & Company Leonard’s son Charles joined the business, he became a Partner in 1984 and on Leonard’s death in 1996 became sole owner.  Between the mid 90’s and the present day the Coach fleet expanded from 8 Coaches to its present day fleet of 21.  In 2007 became a Limited Company.

Today, Charles is still assisted by his mother Grace, wife Julie and sister Janet.  For over a 100 year’s Reynolds Coaches has been and remains a classic family run business supplying a first class personal service.

The Department of Transport through its Vehicle Operator Service Agency (VOSA) scores all transport operators in two sections, one being for overall operation and the other for safety and maintenance of vehicles.  Reynolds Coaches are proud to have the score Green Zero.  This score is the highest achievable by any coach operator and one of only two coach operators in the Eastern Region to achieve this score

With this record you as a customer can be assured of safety and reliability of the highest standard, when hiring a coach.
